Autodesk Releases Q3 2009 Financial Results
Autodesk (November 17, 2009) reported revenue of $416.9 million for Q3 FY 2010 a decrease of 31% percent from Q3 2009 revenue of $607.1 million. Net income was $29.5 million vs $104.5 million for the same quarter last year, a decrease of 72%. Autodesk’s stock sank in after hours trading to a low of $24.48, down more than 9% for the day.

AVEVA Reports Half Year Revenue for P/E September 30, 2009
AVEVA ( November 12, 2009) reported half year revenue of £69.9 ($111.8) million down 7% y/y from £74.8 ($133.2) million. License revenue was £63.6 ($101.7) million down 8% y/y from £68.8 ($122.5) million. Recurring license revenue grew 19% to £47.4($75.8) million and new license revenue declined 44% to £16.9 ($25.7) million from the same period last year. Asia Pacific, which makes up 34% of total revenue or £23.5 ($37.6) million declined 24%, the newly combined EMEA region, which makes up 49% of revenue or £34.4 or ($55.1) million, declined 3% and Americas, which makes up 17% of revenue or £12 ($19.2)million, rose 15% with strong sales in Brazil and weak sales in North America including Canada. Net revenue was £15.5 ($24.9) million down 25% from 2008 revenue of £20.6 ($36.7) million

ANSYS (November 5, 2009) reported revenue for period end September 30, 2009 of $128.2 million vs $122.2 million for the same period last year, up 5%y/y. Software revenue was $76.4 million vs $80.2 milllion for the same period last year, down 5%. Maintenance and service revenue was $51.7 million vs $42 milllion for the same period last year, up 23%. This quarters numbers included Ansoft revenue, which ANSYS purchased in July 2008, of $23.1 million.

Dassault Systemes Releases Preliminary Q3 2009 Financial Results
Dassault Systemes (DSY.FR) (October 29, 2009) reported Q3 revenue for the period ending September 30, 2009, of €291.7 million (US$429.4M)vs €318.3 million a year earlier, down 12% y/y. Software revenue, which makes up 88% of total revenue, was €255.6 million vs €275.6 million a year earlier, down 11% y/y. PLM software revenue was €194.7 million down 11% y/y and mainstream 3D software revenue was €60.9 million down 14% y/y. Services and other revenue was € 36.1 million vs €41.8 million a year earlier, down 17% y/y. Net income was €38.5 million (($56.7M), down 15% y/y. Dassault, which formerly listed on NASDAQ, now lists on Euronext.

PTC (October 28, 2009 ) reported revenue for Q4 at $246.3 million vs $299.5 million for the same period last year, down 18% y/y. License revenue, which made up 29% of total revenue this quarter, was $49.4 million vs $79.9 million for the same period last year, down 32% y/y. Service revenue was $175.7 million vs $195.9 million for the same period last year, down 12% y/y. Shares of PMTC closed today at $15.27, up 0.46% for the day, as PTC beat its own and the streets revenue targets.

ESI Reports Revenue for Half Year End July 31, 2009
ESI Group (September, 2009) reported sales for the half year of $ 45.1m (€31.2m) up 6.4 % from $42.3m (€29.3m) for the same period last year. License and maintenance revenue was 66% of revenue at $29.8 (€20.7m) vs 73% or $14.7m (€21.3m) of revenue last year. Service revenue was 34% of revenue at $15.2m (€ 10.5m) vs 27% or $11.6m (€8.0m) of revenue last year. Net loss for the half was $3.4.-(€2.3 m). US based Mindware, which ESI acquired last year, was responsible for $4m (€2.8m) of revenue, which ESI says confirms the success of their product integration.

MSC (September 22, 2009) agreed in July to a $360 million buy-out deal from an affiliate of Symphony Technology Group, a private equity firm and major investor that valued them at $7.63 per share. On September 7th, MSC received an offer from an unnamed third party private equity firm to acquire the company for $8.00 per share. Symbol made an equivalent matching offer. The unnamed PE group upped their offer to $8.15 per share and Symbol matched the offer. Yesterday the unnamed PE group upped their offer again to $8.30 per share.

Daratech Predicts GIS/Geospatial Industry Worldwide Growth Will Slow to 1% in 2009
Daratech, Inc., (August 19, 2009) a Cambridge, Massachusetts market research firm, forecasts in their just released study that GIS/Geospatial industry worldwide growth will slow to 1% in 2009, down from 11% growth in 2008 and down from the whopping 17.4% growth in 2007. However, industry CEOs interviewed by Daratech were unanimous in their belief that growth consistent with the robust 11% compound annual growth rate of the past six years would return in 2010.

Autodesk Acquires Assets From BOSS International
Autodesk (August 26, 2009) announced that it has purchased BOSS International's water, sewer, and stormwater analysis technology assets. UK Mapping Agency Ordnance Survey and Blom Aerofilms Name Winner of Innovative Pictometry Award
Ordnance Survey (August 26, 2009) and aerial imagery experts Blom Aerofilms named Bristol City Council Garage Strategy Team the winner in a contest for the most innovative use of Pictometry – detailed oblique aerial photos taken from a 45-degree angle, providing a bird’s eye view from all four points of the compass. The team is formulating long-term plans for the council’s 300 garage sites and work from their desktop. Using Pictometry for site analysis they have eliminated the need for site visits.

Dassault Systèmes (August 5, 2009) announced that 3D models hosted on the 3DVIA.com library, including those created using the company’s free 3DVIA Shape modeling application, will now be automatically converted to both Dassault Systèmes’ 3DXML format and the COLLADA open 3D format (.dae format) created by the Khronos Group. GeoEye Reports Growth for 2009 Second Quarter
GeoEye (August 10, 2009) reported total revenue of $72.7 million for the second quarter 2009, an increase of 112% from $34.2 million for the same period last year. Revenue from U.S Government contracts, the company’s largest customer, was $47.5 million, 65.3% of the revenue for the quarter. Domestic revenue for the second quarter was $50.4 million, 69.4% of the total revenue and a 173.3% increase from 2008. International revenue was $22.3 million, 30.6% of total revenue, and a 41.2% increase from 2008. For the second half of 2009, GeoEye expects fiscal 2009 revenue to be between $270 million to $280 million, with adjusted EBITDA in the range of $125 million to $133 million, and EPS in a range of $1.10 per share to $1.37 per share.

In a period end trading update AVEVA said that their fiscal year end March 31, 2009 revenue would meet forecasts of £157.35 million up from FY2008 revenue of £127.56 million. GeoEye, Inc. (April 2, 2009) reported Q4 revenues of $40.7 million down 7% or $43.6 million from the same quarter last year. Dassault Systemes Releases Peliminary Q4 2008 Financial Results Under Forecast
Dassault Systemes (January 16, 2009) reported Friday that its Q4 preliminary revenue and earnings per share results will be below its objectives. CEO Bernard Charles attributed the earnings slowdown to customer reluctance to sign contracts that DS expected to close in the last days of the quarter. Dassault said that preliminary non-GAAP total revenue is estimated at €382 million, compared to the company's non-GAAP objective of €385 million to €395 million. Preliminary non-GAAP earnings per share is estimated at €0.65 to € .70, compared to DS’ non-GAAP Q4 earnings per share objective of €..79 to €.84. DS will report full year and Q4 results February 11, 2009.

Autodesk Restructuring; Revises Down Q4 FY09 Outlook

PTC Sees Revenue Flat
PTC (January 8, 2009) said that it expects to report Q1 non-GAAP revenue of $240 million, which it said would be flat compared to the same quarter a year ago. The company had previously forecast revenue of $250 million to $260 million and said that the expected shortfall in revenue compared to guidance is due to fewer than expected license sales. The firm expects adjusted earnings per share of between 14 cents to 16 cents in the quarter vs the 23 cents for the quarter that Wall Street had estimated. PTC does not pay dividends.
